I'm Margaret, a home cook and recipe creator. My kitchen is my favorite room in the house, and I have the flour-dusted aprons to prove it.

I've always believed that great food doesn't need to be complicated or intimidating. It just needs to be made with a little patience, a lot of curiosity, and maybe a second cup of coffee.

I'm the kind of cook who tastes as I go, scribbles notes on sticky-back paper, and genuinely gets excited about a really good weeknight dinner.

At SimpleGout, I share recipes that are practical, approachable, and above all, genuinely delicious.

My Expertise

My cooking skills developed the old-fashioned way: through years of trial, error, and the occasional kitchen disaster that turned into an accidental discovery. I never went to culinary school. Instead, I learned by doing, by failing, by calling my grandmother on a Sunday afternoon when a sauce just wasn't coming together.

I cook each dish in my own home kitchen, using a regular stove, standard grocery store ingredients, and the same tools that most home cooks already own. My goal is never to impress you with technique. It's to make sure that when you follow one of my recipes, it actually works.

My Journey

SimpleGout started on a quiet Sunday afternoon when I realized I had been keeping all of my best recipes locked away in a spiral notebook that only I could read. Friends and family kept asking me to share recipes after dinners, and I kept saying I'd type them up soon. One day, I finally did, and a website felt like the right place to put them.

My cooking has evolved along the way too. I've learned when to keep things simple and when a little extra effort pays off. I've discovered that accessibility matters more than ambition in home cooking. What motivates me today is knowing that someone out there is using one of my recipes to feed their family, impress a friend, or just get a satisfying meal on the table after a long day.

"I'm proud of this little corner of the internet because every recipe here has been made with care and tested with honesty. You can expect straightforward instructions, real ingredients, and results that taste exactly as good as they sound."
