  • 1 medium apple peeled cored and diced
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  2. In a large bowl whisk together the flour sugar baking powder cinnamon and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl beat the egg then stir in the milk melted butter and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  5. Fold in the diced apple making sure to distribute pieces evenly.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 50 to 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. While the bread cools in the pan for 10 minutes whisk together the powdered sugar milk and vanilla to make a glaze then drizzle over the top.

Notes

  • Allow the bread to cool slightly before slicing to prevent crumbling
  • For extra apple flavor stir in a handful of chopped walnuts or pecans
  • Store leftovers wrapped in plastic wrap at room temperature for up to three days
  • You can swap the granulated sugar for brown sugar for a deeper caramel note
