Description

These pumpkin cinnamon roll muffins combine tender, spiced pumpkin batter with gooey cinnamon swirls and a silky cream cheese glaze, filling your kitchen with autumn aromas from the first bite.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup canned pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 4 ounces cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners or grease the cups.
  2. In a large bowl whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl combine pumpkin puree, granulated sugar, brown sugar, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir just until combined; avoid overmixing.
  5. In a small bowl mix light brown sugar, additional ground cinnamon, and melted butter to make the cinnamon swirl.
  6. Spoon half of the batter into each muffin cup, then add about a teaspoon of the cinnamon swirl mixture on top of each.
  7. Use a toothpick or skewer to gently swirl the cinnamon mixture into the batter.
  8. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. While the muffins bake, beat together cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth to make the glaze.
  10. Allow muffins to cool for 5 minutes in the tin, then transfer to a wire rack and drizzle with the cream cheese glaze.

Notes

  • Store muffins in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • Freeze cooled muffins in a sealed bag for up to 1 month; thaw before serving.
  • Customize the spice level by adding a pinch of ground ginger or cloves.
  • Serve warm for the best tender, gooey cinnamon swirl experience.
